Culture Differences

...Where to begin? This will have ongoing updates....
....Why are there boxes of facial tissues in the kitchen and the cafeteria?.. That's a new concept... facial tissues instead of napkins..... is that even functional?
... No tipping....as a matter of fact, they will be insulted if you tip...even chase u down to return the money.... i get my bags carried to the elevator/room/car... personal escorts when i am lost..great massage, pedicure, excellent service... and no tipping.... A definite must adapt practice....
...you are greeted with a bow and with an open sweep of their right hand, they welcome u in...
...jaywalking.... quite the norm...
...face mask... most people wear them...and no is not to protect from diseases like mi did think...but from the wind...cause it windy here... memba say is up North the city deh...
.....uniforms...every worker at every establishment wears uniform... the same color, style, same fabric....not each interpretation of what the uniform should be...at work, the cleaning crew wears gray slacks, grey vests and white shirts... the drivers all have to be dressed professionally...blazers and dress slacks...
...no ice!!!... if the beverage not room temperature, it barely chill....
...drinking glasses the size of a baby's sippy cup...so i end up making a zillion trips to fill up....
...hot tea/water instead of beverage with your meal.... something about your body using less energy if the beverage is hot???
.... wearing the same clothes day in day out.... heard of one coworker who in 8 months has finally worn a different pants to work.... all week this week, i noticed one with a black jumper and a red long sleeve top...supposedly they don't have dryers, and the clothes take a long time to dry so they don't wash often...and some might not have a lot of clothes.... here's a novel concept... alternate the days u wear the outfit...
....energy efficiency.... the lights in my apartment doesn't come on until i put the room key in the holder next to the door...great for saving energy...but increases my chances of locking myself out the aprt....
....no such thing as a full elevator...there's always room for more....
... personal space??? doesn't exist...
....one child policy...each family is limited to one child as the government pays all expenses including schooling for that child... if you choose to have another one, you owe the government 40000RNB (payment for that child)..... if your parents had one child, and your wife's parent had one child, then you and your wife get to have 2 children.... why can't America adopt this policy?
